Farrago Regains her Wings. by Grimmalkin

Grimmalkin by Grimmalkin

Uneasy with the idea of parading Bob around as my sole internet Avatar, I created another character: a gender-ambivalent, taciturn, stick-wielding bobcat in overalls whom I have no official name for.

Shabby Autumn Gentlecat. by Grimmalkin

Initially in color, I had been playing with different lighting and ended up creating a mess. Desaturating and playing with the airbrush tool in Photoshop repaired the damage considerably, or so I thought at the time.

Bob o' Lantern by Grimmalkin

Another older piece featuring Bob and my ignorance about the layers function in Photoshop. I was determined to create an image that looked good despite all the artifacts in a flood-fill, as I recall, and it wasn't a bad attempt at all.

Mary Sue Character by Grimmalkin

Meet Silverithia Lillium Von Fusterclucke.

Drawn as a suppliment to the amusing observations of typical Mary-Sue Characters in the Mighty Duck Fandom, Mrs Fusterclucke was also a convenient excuse to draw another duck character. Drawing bills is more fun than it looks.

Polar Opposites by Grimmalkin

This remains one of my favorite furry pieces, ever. A polar bear, and a penguin of which species I cannot recall at the moment.

Circa 2005.

Medium: pen, photoshop
Tags: bear penguin polar
Gossa the Harpist by Grimmalkin

Thanks to my grandparents, I have developed a taste for classical music, especially the pieces that require less-common instruments. I cannot recall which grand outing inspired this piece, but I have always found the musicians to be as fascinating as the instruments they play. Like pets and owners, there is often a striking resemblance between the two.

Circa 2004. Art and character are my own.

Medium: marker, pen
Tags: Swan
The Thief by Grimmalkin

While not a rabid fan, I have always liked hooded rats. So, when the image of a rat burglar clambered her way into my brain, I couldn't resist.

The character herself is drawn in ink, colored pencil, and gel pen on bristol paper, and the rest of it I mangled in photoshop.

Circa 2004.

Medium: photoshop, ink, colored pencil, gel pen.
Tags: rat hooded
Dragon Color Study by Grimmalkin

Yet another attempt to color in photoshop, only knowing the basics. The digital airbrush is painfully obvious, but in retrospect I'm pleased with the color choices. This was also one of my forays into drawing "mean" or "uncute" dragons.

Circa 2003, coloring Circa 2004.

Medium: pencil, photoshop
Tags: dragon
The Fox in the Yellow Hat by Grimmalkin

A profile image of a furcadian character of mine who ended up having an absurdly short lifespan. It was also one of my very early attempts to create an entirely digital piece using a right-handed mouse.

I am left-handed. Still, it was an interesting endeavor, and the first step in a three-year quest to conquer drawing with a bar of soap, with the wrong hand.

Only a few weeks ago, I learned that one could simply switch the mouse over to left-handedness.

Now they tell me.

Circa 2003.

Medium: Photoshop
Tags: fox
